Organisational Changes in support of Framework

The EDT presented a new strategy for ESB to senior managers across the business on Thursday, March 27th.

The strategy was presented and approved at the March 2008 GBM. The strategy outlines ESB's response to the challenges of climate change and the business environment that we face. The detail of the strategy will be briefed extensively to all staff over the coming weeks.

In addition, a number of initial organisational changes were announced in support of the implementation of the strategy:

  • John Campion is appointed into a new role as Executive Director, Sustainability to spearhead overall implementation of our environmental and sustainability objectives. The role is for 12 months.
  • Luke Shinnors is appointed acting HR Director for this period.
  • Corporate Affairs will report to the Company Secretary, John Redmond.
  • Joe O'Mahony will head up a newly established Renewables Business Development Unit, reporting to Aidan O'Regan.
  • Jerry O'Sullivan will take up a new position as Manager, Networks Sustainability and Systems.
  • Brian Dowd will head up a newly established Energy Services Unit, reporting to Brid Horan. His responsibilities include ESB's programme to meet the national 2020 20% energy efficiency target.
  • Liam Walsh is appointed Business Development Manager, ESBI Engineering & Consultants.
  • Billy Byrne is appointed Human Resources Manager, ESBI.
  • Andy Kinsella takes up a new position in ESB Power Generation as Manager, Portfolio Strategy & Sustainability. His brief includes clean coal technology, biomass, district heating, IT & environmental sustainability.
  • Paul Mulvaney takes up a new ESB Power Generation role with responsibility for implementing the Power Generation Asset Strategy.
  • Mick O'Mahony is appointed as acting Asset Manager, ESB Power Generation.
  • Michael Aherne is appointed to the position of manager of a new property subsidiary company being established to leverage company property assets
