Corporate Centre Development Programme

At the launch of the Corporate Centre Learning and Development Policy in May 2008, Group HR gave a commitment to support a Corporate Centre Partnership Group learning/ development initiative by designing the fi rst module of a development programme for Corporate Centre staff. Consultation workshops were held with a representative group of line managers and staff to agree the learning outcomes, programme content and structure of the fi rst module. Subsequent modules would be based on analysis of Individual Training and Development Plans.

Key objectives for Module One of the programme were to give participants the opportunity to develop greater self-awareness, refl ect on their life and career, identify areas for further learning/ development and develop the essentials skills to do this.

A key element of Module One was Situational Self-Leadership ( facilitated by Morgan Pierse of Blanchard International ) which is a process that teaches and enables participants to be more proactive contributors within and outside the workplace through the use of initiative and innovation. The process provides strategies for gaining more satisfaction from one's work by introducing new perspectives on leadership and enables one to perform better by understanding what motivates him/ her.

The programme also featured presentations by ESB managers on the role of the Corporate Centre, Equality and Diversity, Power Generation Portfolio Strategy and on Sustainability. The programme was organised jointly by Shared Services and Group HR, Learning and Development and was attended by approximately 50 staff from across the various business areas in the Corporate Centre.
