Sustainability Week in ESB Networks
This year's Sustainability Week, which took place between March 22nd and 26th, proved to be another major success.
Throughout the week, Networks staff enthusiastically grasped the opportunity to get involved in the Sustainability programme with a large number of events and initiatives organised right across the country at a local level. Central to the week were the many locally organised briefing sessions and workshops, the output of which will form the basis of local Sustainability Improvement plans.
One of the highlights this year was the successful showcasing of the MyMeeting@esb.ie (Webex) system with 24 locations across Networks in 12 separate sessions sharing briefings and presentations across the Internet.
In addition, many external guests were invited in to Networks depots to speak on a range of topics, some of which were broadcast nationally again using the MyMeeting facility.
Among the many other excellent local events organised were:
- Local community events including visits to local schools.
- Local initiatives such as planting of native Irish trees.
- Local quizzes with sustainable prizes.
- Drives and promotions to switch off PCs and other office equipment when not in use.
- Clean up days (offices, vans, yards).
- Yard walkabouts to promote waste recycling.
- Daily Sustainability tips by e-mail and by text.
- Installation of Sustainability notice boards and / or display stands.
- Car pooling along with "cycle / walk to work" days.
- Collection of old PCs, IT equipment and mobile phones for recycling.
All in all, another very successful Sustainability Week.
