Green initiative at Ennis School

Pupils at Knockanean National School in Ennis had an opportunity to see one of ESB’s electric vehicles up close when they received a visit from Paul Mulvaney, MD of ESB Electric Vehicles, and Sean Hegarty of ESB Wind Development. Paul and Sean were at the school on Friday February 5th to give a talk on ‘Renewable Energy and Climate Change’.

The Knockanean Green School Committee was set up in 2007 and its primary objective was to increase awareness about litter, waste and other environmental issues in this part of Ennis known in Irish as Cnoc an Éin. Pupils from 3rd to 6th class became involved and the first Green Flag was awarded by An Taisce in May 2008.

The goal is now to achieve a second Green Flag based on the theme of Energy.
