ESB ecars is taking a leadership role in the development of a sustainable transport system and the introduction of ecars in Ireland. As one of the key players in its rollout, ESB ecars is undertaking trials to test the infrastructure and collect data to examine consumer behaviour and trends.
During Sustainability Week, John Campion, Director Sustainability, ESB launched 'Get Plugged-in', a two year pilot that will involve staff trialling Mitsubishi iMiEV ecars for a period of four months at a time. Commenting on the competition, John explained, "Get Plugged-in is an exciting and important pilot project that will inform us about driving trends, usage patterns as well as the new ecar lifestyle experience. It also gives our staff a wonderful opportunity to be one of the first to experience ecar driving as part of everyday life." It is planned that approximately 50 staff will partake over the two year period of the trial.
"Get Plugged-in" is open to all staff and there are a number of criteria that staff must comply with in order to enter the competition. Entrants will also be required to explain how they will make best use of the car as well as expressing their interest in sustainable activity.
