World-Class safety performance at Marina Generating Station Saturday 25th February 2006 was a momentous day for the staff at Marina Generating Station. This was the date on which they reached the very important milestone of 1,400 days worked without experiencing a lost time accident. 1,400 days equates to almost 500,000 hours' work and this is a remarkable achievement for the station staff and one of which they are justifiably proud. Donal Lehane, the Station's Services Manager and Nominated Safety Engineer, said that the achievement was the result of the efforts of the entire Marina team, but that even with such a strong performance, there was no room for anyone to become complacent or relax their focus on safety, particularly as Marina is now facing into an increased work schedule with a greater amount of activity on site. Congratulating the Marina Team on their achievement, Power Generation Executive Director Pat O'Doherty said that he hoped that this excellent record could be maintained for a long time into the future. "This world class performance should serve to encourage us all and to remind us all that, by making a determined and concerted effort, we can make sure that our business is a safe place for everyone to work." |
