New home for Power Industry Quiz Trophy

Finally, after four years on the trot, the Power Industry Quiz Trophy has a new home. ElectricAid's winning team of Cian Doherty, James Foley and Des Doherty (yes there was only 3 of them) saw off all pretenders winning by 2 points for a famous victory. The engraving costs have gone up by 200% as there will be no ESBI (who have won it for the last four years) on the trophy this time.

The tension this year was amazing with the leaderboard changing nearly every round. Brian King - ESB Networks - again assembled some memorable questions and redeemed himself sufficiently to avoid the police escort of last year. Aertech came second, with Complete Contractors Ltd (a building construction company no less) finishing 3rd.

Thanks to all the sponsors for their very generous support. A special mention too for the markers and collectors whose expertise made the whole event run smoothly.

Funds raised amounted to €2,846, which will again go to Kakuma School in Kenya to help sustain the improvement of the school started five years ago. The quiz will again take place in October 2006 and anyone wishing to take part can contact David Walshe @ (01 60) Ext. 42119.
