Clár ICH Community Group launches Community Energy Advice Programme

Clár ich, in Claremorris, is one of 25 community-based groups throughout the country delivering the Warmer Homes Scheme that aims to improve the energyefficiency and comfort-levels of homes occupied by low-income households. ESB Customer Supply supports the Warmer Homes Scheme by providing hot-water cylinder lagging-jackets and energysaving light-bulbs free to all households benefiting. Additionally, ESB Customer Supply is providing significant funding to support a ramp-up of the Warmer Homes Scheme this year.

CLáR recently launched its Community Energy Advice Training Programme, developed by Energy Action and sponsored by ESB Customer Supply. The national launch of this programme took place earlier this year at the offices of Energy Action and was attended by television-personality Duncan Stewart.

The training programme will equip staff from communitybased groups with the skills and resources needed to develop appropriate information on energy-awareness and energysaving for a variety of customer groups including:
• Households benefiting from Warmer Homes Scheme.
• Other services that engage with target householders, such as Meals-on-Wheels, public health nurses, the SvP and other relevant statutory and voluntary organisations.
