Editors letter Hello and
Welcome Believe it or not it has been just about a year since the second group of volunteers returned from the Teshie school project in Accra in Ghana. By the time you receive your current copy of EM the volunteers on the latest Teshie project will be packing their bags in readiness for their travels. This year the group will not be split over two stages, but travel together to carry out the work over one two-week period. Stories have been told, lessons learned, advice doled out and memories relived but there is no doubt that the staff travelling on this occasion will find the work as fulfilling and rewarding as we did last year. This group will have the added advantage of seeing last year’s project transform the Teshie site and enjoy the benefits of the facilities that were built and refurbished in 2008. At this stage the school children and teachers will have seen the rewards of having a training room equipped with new technology and see a vast number of the young pupils adept at mastering new IT skills. We will be keeping you up to date with a daily diary on our intranet site and of course EM will feature the developments on the project in coming issues. We wish the volunteers well and hope they enjoy this amazing project as much as those who have gone before, particularly no doubt the daily visits of the children which makes the effort so rewarding. |
