Chief Executive launches ‘Healthy Options’ 2007 As christmas fast approaches why not consider healthy options over the festive season and for your resolutions for 2008! Healthy Options 2007 is a combined initiative by the Restaurant and Occupational Health teams in ESB Shared Services to offer you practical tips and options in terms of eating, exercise and your general wellbeing. Initiatives in Head Office, Clanwilliam, and ESBI included visits from the SPORTSCO team they talked to staff about the benefits of exercise and healthy diets in increasing our energy levels. Blood pressure checks were carried out by the nurses in Occupational Health. There were also a number of stands in place, throughout 2007 where staff could ask the experts for their advice or tips on the health initiatives. Eating a well balanced diet is critical to maintaining a healthy lifestyle and the restaurant team provided nutritious food, properly cooked helping each of us to take the healthy option more often. This will be a busy time for Health Co-ordinators across ESB as similar initiatives will be happening over the coming weeks in locations outside Dublin. The ‘Healthy Options 2007’ initiative kicked off on Monday, November 26th in Head Office with the launch of ‘Electric Feast’, a recipe book of easy to cook, nutritious and popular dishes from the ESB restaurants. The book also contains supporting food and lifestyle articles and tips for healthy eating provided by Occupational Health Services. Jeanette Lowe in Corporate Affairs came up with the original idea providing an ideal opportunity for the Shared Services team to demonstrate their creative and professional expertise while supporting staff with good eating ideas! The book was available in Dublin from November 26th and will be launched in other locations over the first couple of weeks in December. The book is sponsored by ESB Customer Supply & Group Services so all donations (great value at €10 each) will be going to ElectricAid. This book will make a great ‘stocking filler’ for Santa as it’s a colourful compact cookbook covering everything from home made smoothies and lemonade to soups, vegetarian, meat and fish courses along with stunning desserts for special occasions. Your gift will go a long way – ElectricAid will make good use of the proceeds of your generous support. EM |
