Retirement of George Habington

George Habington, Property & Facilities, retired recently after 38 years of service. During his time as an electrician in Contracts Section, he worked on the construction of A block and then at Trinity College and at Irish Shipping.

When the work on A Block was completed, George moved to Premises Section, working as Head Office maintenance electrician under Christy Ryan and Ray Daly. He held this post until 2004, when George decided he needed a change and moved to the Head Office Switchboard where he was to spend the next three years handling even the most difficult situations with good humour and common sense. George was an excellent ‘customer service’ person and dealt efficiently with callers to Head Office reception.

In his personal life, George is very involved in amateur dramatics and in film acting. His credits include the blockbuster Michael Collins.

He will be missed and we wish George health and happiness for the future.
