ESBI Plant Managers conference

The annual ESBI Engineering & Facility Management (FM) Plant Managers' Conference took place in Dublin from November 14th to 16th. It was attended by FM Management and key support staff and gathered from abroad ESBI Plant Managers, who are responsible for over 5,500MW of plant in Pakistan, Malaysia, UK, Spain and Ireland.

The conference theme was "growing the business" and the agenda covered a wide range of topics and included workshops on safety, improved service delivery and business expansion.

Each Plant Manager presented on the key achievements from the last twelve months of their plant's Operations & Maintenance (O&M) performance and the key challenges for the future.

There were also a number of presenters from outside the FM group including, Executive Director ESBI, Michael McNicholas, who gave an overview of ESBI's business performance. Paul Duignan presented on corporate governance and ethics and Sean Atkinson from ESB International Investments updated on achieving ESBI's investment strategy. The team also visited the ESBI Trading Room and were updated on the effect of the SEM on ESBI's business activities.

The conference also gave everyone involved a chance to renew acquaintances, discuss ideas and meet new members of the FM team.

Managers also learned about the experiences and challenges of other plants in the FM portfolio.

This year a few new faces on the team were introduced to the gathering: Aidan Fagan, Manager, Windfarm Operations, Fergal O'Loughlin, Manager Dublin Bay Power, Declan O'Brien, Technical Services Manager and Barry Lynch, Regional O&M Manager Asia.
