Central security enhancement

Anyone who has visited Head Office lately will have noticed a change to the reception area and the introduction of a swipe card entry system. This was only part of a larger security project and recently Brid Horan, Executive Director, ESB Customer Supply and Group Services visited the refurbished ESB Security Central Station in Head Office to view the state of the art security system now in place. During her visit the new security systems were demonstrated.

These systems include access control, intruder alarm and CCTV control systems. The refurbishment of the Central Station area has taken place over the past four months and has involved the total strip out of the existing security control room and the installation of a new equipment, ID card production and security control rooms.

The refurbishment of this area was part of a larger project which has seen the installation of a new intruder alarm system in every block of the Head Office complex and the installation of access control barriers in reception and at the back gate including vehicle recognition.

The next stage of the project will be the replacement of the old Bewator access systems that are installed on the complex. Other features of the system to be rolled out include linkage of print queues to ID cards and the proposed introduction of cashless payment system in HO restaurant.

Speaking during her visit Brid Horan expressed her thanks to all those who ensured that the security of the complex was maintained despite the significant body of work going on and with which they were closely involved.

Brid also expressed her satisfaction with the fact that ESB HO now has a state of the art security system in place and looked forward to it being fully implemented and particularly the speedy introduction of the next phases which will result in more sustainable print management and enhanced service in the staff restaurant.
