Three retirements from ESB Networks After a combined service of 74 years, three of the most popular staff members in Networks, Leopardstown Road celebrated their retirements together with their families at a very enjoyable function in the Stillorgan Park Hotel, Co. Dublin on Thursday, November 13th. Vivien Dunne, Cliff Hutchinson and Mary Meehan are all saying goodbye to ESB before the end of 2008 and a great crowd gathered to wish all three the very best. After 10 years of dedicated service to ESB, Vivien Dunne retires. During her time in ESB, she was highly regarded by her colleagues and friends in Leopardstown Road. Her sense of humour and generous spirit will be sadly missed by all her colleagues. Vivien was a valuable member of the Production Support team, providing a cheerful and friendly service to all her customers. Following her retirement, Vivien and her husband Denis plan to head off to Australia for three months. We would like to wish them a wonderful trip and a long, healthy and happy retirement. Cliff Hutchinson is very well known in ESB for his role in managing relationships with many of our major customers over the past 20 years. He joined the company in 1969 as an apprentice electrician and was based in Dublin No.2 District originally before moving to Contracts in Dublin South, Brewery Road. A change of role to the area of Load Development in 1977 marked the start of a long and successful career in Sales & Marketing, based largely in Leopardstown, Clanwilliam and Fleet Street. In recent years Cliff has continued this role in Networks' Customer Relations, based in Leopardstown Road. Cliff loves travel and took a year out in 1976 to go working in Saudi Arabia and later worked on DSM consultancy in Russia in the mid ‘90's. Throughout his career his commitment to providing excellent customer service and always expertly managing customer relationships has consistently been his hallmark. Cliff's many colleagues in ESB will miss his good yarns, positive outlook and great friendship and his renowned photography when capturing special moments for colleagues at many ESB occasions. We wish Cliff, Máiréad and their family health, happiness and all the very best for the future. Mary Meehan originally joined ESB in 1973 and worked for seven years in the Dublin South Revenue Office in Brewery Road and subsequently in Leopardstown. When her first child was born in 1980, she left ESB but joined again in 1993. On her return, she worked in the Bray Area office looking after the customers, supervisors, and the area administration work. In 2003 Mary transferred to Network Projects in Leopardstown. Mary was known for her work commitment and ability to master new systems. She was even more renowned for the manner in which she interacted with her colleagues. Mary always stood by a code of helpfulness, selflessness, courtesy, and charm. his has endeared Mary to all who worked with her and she will thus be fondly remembered. All three will be sorely missed in their respective work areas but will be very fondly remembered by their colleagues. |
