Bequest to Christina Nobel Foundation
ESBI
Gerry Kane was a greatly respected and much loved member ofESBI's Power Plant electrical team. His professionalism and voracious appetite for work was well known on the many Irish projects he worked on over the years withESB andESBI. His untimely death earlier this year following a long illness was a sad blow to his friends and colleagues.
A couple of months after his death, one of his friends inESBI was contacted by Gerry's daughter Sandra to say that he had left €5,000 in his will for a Christina Nobel project. Gerry had always been very interested in how Christina's work in Vietnam was progressing and particularly inESBI's involvement in that work. It transpired that Gerry had been hoping to visit the project in Vietnam but his progressing illness hindered his plans.
Gerry's bequest is being directed towards two projects that will have a significant impact on the lives of some disadvantaged children in Ho Chi Minh City. Part will go towards the purchase of bicycles, which will help a parent earn an income or help children get to school. The remainder of Gerry's donation will fund medical expenses for some very ill children. A detailed report on how the bequest is used will be presented to Gerry's family by CNCF in Vietnam.
