A Christmas Message from the Chief Executive

"Dear Colleagues, Let me begin by wishing each and every one of you and your families a happy and peaceful Christmas.

I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your contributions to the very successful and busy year now ending and to look forward with you to facing the challenges that lie ahead. We have come through a period of very significant change for the company and the energy market in Ireland, together we continue to strive to provide a worldclass service for our customers and a strong, dynamic ESB.

This is a time when, hopefully, we can look forward to joining family and friends in seasonal celebration. But for those who have been recently bereaved, it is a particularly difficult occasion. We bear very much in mind those colleagues, current and retired, who died during the past year and to their families we again extend our ongoing sympathy.

It is also appropriate at this time to remember that Christmas is not a time of plenty for everyone and to acknowledge your great generosity towards ElectricAid. Because of your support, the fund continues to grow. By yearend, ElectricAid will have funded 107 projects with a spend of €800,000 while ElectricAID Ireland will have donated €900,000 towards 85 projects. Overall membership has increased to a new high of 2,350 and I strongly hope that this growth trend will continue through 2007.

Once again, let me express my deep appreciation and gratitude to all in ESB for your dedication and commitment during the year. To all our colleagues who retired in 2006, I also send my thanks and season's greetings.

Happy Christmas and may you enjoy good health, contentment and safety in the coming year. Nollag Shona dhuit go leir."
