ESB Lough Ree Power raises €11k for Victor Connell Trust Fund

The staff of ESB Lough Ree Power Station in Lanesboro recently made a presentation of €11,000 to the Victor Connell Trust Fund. Victor suffered a serious spinal injury while playing for Longford RFC in October 2005, which will leave him requiring assistance for the rest of his life.

The fact that Victor's aunt, Diane Mullooly, is a member of the Maintenance Team at the station made Victor's plight an issue that the staff felt very close to and concerned about. As a means of contributing to the '4 Victor Appeal', a number of people from the power station took part in the ESB 30km Walk that was held in Sligo last May. In total, they raised €11k in sponsorship from their friends, families and colleagues.

They were also assisted in their efforts by contributions from colleagues in West Offaly Power, Poolbeg, ESB Management Lough Ree Power, Bob Campbell and the staff at Mitchell's Tools, Joe Kearney of Quick Sharp, MI Construction and APC. Well done also to Christina Wall and the staff at Bank of Ireland, Ballinasloe, who gave generously to the appeal. The staff at ESB Lough Ree Power appreciates the efforts by all who helped and a special word of thanks to Michael Magan, who accepted the donation on behalf of the Victor Connell Trust Fund.
