Rewarding sustainability:

Sustainability Awards Scheme 2010

Sustainability News

There was an overwhelming response to the Sustainability Awards Scheme with almost 200 submissions received from right across ESB. Indeed, some submissions contained a number of initiatives and ideas which when all added together gives a fantastic level of entries in the first year of the awards scheme. While the number of entries reflects very positively on the huge amount work and involvement the quality of entries is also extremely encouraging. They cover the full range of sustainable initiatives including work, home and the community. One of the most pleasing aspects of the submissions is that they cover a very wide spectrum of sustainable practice from energy efficiency to school visits and from process improvement to staff communications.

The challenging task of adjudicating the submissions is currently underway by a team comprising of:

  • Paddy Hamill (Networks).
  • Mick Downey (Sustainability).
  • Fergus Keane (O&M).
  • Tony Merriman (Board Member).
  • Lesley Murphy (ESBI).
  • Liam Ring (Sustainability).

The winning submissions will be announced during Sustainability Week which will run from March 22nd - 26th.

Once again we would to thank everyone for their submissions and their ongoing commitment to making ESB exemplars in environmental sustainability.
