Helping children with Cerebral Palsy, Kathmandu, Nepal

Bob and Frances Corazza, from Sandymount, Dublin, have a long-term involvement with the Self-Help Group for Cerebral Palsy (SGCP) in Kathmandu, Nepal. They run their own Irish charity in support of SGCP. In 15 years, SGCP has developed from a zero base to providing therapy, education and hope for the first time to Nepali children with Cerebral Palsy.

In 1998, ElectricAid among many others, assisted SGCP with £5,000 to buy a development site. This was for a long-term plan for a dedicated and specialised residential school, therapy building and vocational training unit. This complex will be a national centre in Nepal for children with Cerebral Palsy, and will include outreach and home visit programmes

The therapy building is now complete. ElectricAid again assisted SGCP in November 2005 with €1,500 to complete the electrical fit-out of the building. The therapy building is now accommodating 64 children and delivering therapeutic services to them and many others. This is another fine example of leveraging massive and positive results with relatively small amounts of your money. Thank you all again!
