Moneypoint will fund boats in Sri Lanka

The above picture shows Bernardine Maloney (Moneypoint Station Manager) along with staff representatives and Paddy Stapleton (Group Manager) presenting a cheque for €6200 to the Irish Sri Lanka Trust Fund represented by Pat Henchy. This money, which was raised in ESB Moneypoint, will enable the charity to purchase two fully equipped fishing boats for families affected by the devastating Tsunami in Asia last Christmas. The two boats, to be called 'ESB Moneypoint' and 'ESB Co. Clare', will be constructed in Sri Lanka over the coming months and will provide income and food for many people into the future.

The boats are 19 ft. long and are built from reinforced plastic. They will come complete with fishing nets and a 25 hp Yamaha engine. They are also approved by Lloyds Registration of Shipping (London) and as such meet all safety criteria. While the original target for the charity was to raise money to finance 50 boats they have now raised enough money for over 960 boats with over 600 of these boats now actively fishing. The Irish Sri Lanka Trust Fund concluded the presentation by thanking all staff in Moneypoint for helping with this very worthy cause.
