Finance Minister addresses Smurfit Business Breakfast The 16th smurfit Business Breakfast recently took place in the College of Surgeons, Dublin. It was ESB Customer Supply's 8th year sponsoring the event and on every occasion has delivered distinguished guest speakers who deal with issues that are always current, stimulating and sometimes controversial. On this occasion Brian Linehan, TD and Minister for Finance was no exception and didn't disappoint. His address entitled, 'The role of the Government in Ireland's Economic Future' was very interesting and thought provoking. Chief Executive, Padraig McManus, in his address commented on ESB's role in the Irish Economy, ''We see a real potential for growth in the Energy Sector, particular in the areas of renewable and carbon technologies". Padraig also referred to the investment by ESB of €22billion which will create a net carbon neutral company by 2035. More than half this investment will be renewables and Smart Metering and Smart Networks. |
