Farewell to the end of an era Customer Supply Retail staff, 130 in total, came from all corners of the country and converged in Galway recently to mark the closure of ESB's retail shops. It was an occasion that nobody wanted to miss as staff took the opportunity to catch up with colleagues they hadn't seen for some time. The evening was a huge success thanks to the Partnership Group who organised the event. Farewell to the end of an era It turned out to be a very glamorous occasion and although touched with sadness and nostalgia, there was a sense of joyfulness as old acquaintances were renewed. What was very evident throughout the evening was that the staff in question were quite unique. They were passionate people who had served ESB so well for so long, staff who loved their jobs and who loved serving our customers. This same group represented the face of ESB in so many towns and communities throughout Ireland and this fact was acknowledged by management on the evening during the many tributes that were paid. The Customer Supply business also noted how lucky they were to have many of the shop staff return into the mainstream Supply Business. Those that were leaving to join the Bank of Scotland (Ireland) will be a big gain for BOSI while those opting for early retirement will enjoy the fruits of their labour. Good wishes to you all on whatever path you have chosen. EM |
