Senior Women's Hockey
Women's Interprovincials 2005/06, 18th-20th November, Garryduff, Cork.
This year the Women's Senior & U21 Interprovincial Tournament was held in Cork over the weekend of 18th-20th November. Here we saw the cream of Irish women's hockey represent their provinces in this exciting tournament held at the picturesque setting of Garryduff Sports Grounds.
Connacht got off to a poor start against Ulster in Cork and found themselves struggling to keep up with the tempo set by their northern counterparts. Two goals from Jessica Lynch and a further goal from Alex Speers widened the gap and the final score was Ulster 3-Connacht 0.
The Munster side appeared to be in control of the game right from the start against Leinster. Goals from Eimear Cregan and Karen Bateman and Leinster's Nikki Symmons left the score-line 2-1 to Munster. Munster needed a draw or a win to go home with the cup; however Ulster proved to be too strong and an early goal from Kirsty McCollum secured their victory!
