D.I.T. Graduation 2005 On December 3rd 2005, 36 Shift Operatives from a number of Power Station locations around the country were conferred by the Dublin Institute of Technology with Higher Certificates in Power Plant Technology. The locations involved were Aghada, Bellacorick, Great Island, Tarbert Moneypoint, Shannonbridge, West Offaly Power, Lanesboro and Poolbeg. The conferring ceremony took place in the prestigious surroundings of St. Patrick's Cathedral. The staff were joined by family and friends for the conferring. The family and friends of the graduates expressed their thanks to ESB for the way in which they were treated on this special day. The DIT Higher Certificate in Power Plant Technology is available at two levels: Plant Operations and Plant Management. The graduates earned their certificates after going through a two-year programme. Eleven Shift Operatives were conferred with the Higher Certificate in Power Plant Technology for Plant Operations. Twenty-five Shift Operatives were conferred with the Higher Certificate in Power Plant Technology for Plant Management. This qualification is a collaboration between ESB and DIT, with ESB Training developing, designing and delivering the course and DIT validating the learning and accrediting the successful candidates with certification.
