Fighting blindness

In April 2006 Denise Greene will be participating in the Fighting Blindness Great Wall of China Trek. The funds raised from this challenge will go directly to the charity, Fighting Blindness. Fighting Blindness is Ireland's leading charity promoting research to find therapies and treatments for eye disease.

The charity also provides valuable support and counselling to those who are affected by degenerative blinding conditions. Fighting Blindness needs to raise substantial funds to maintain their expensive medical research programs and to continue to provide the invaluable support and information services to individuals and families.

Your support will improve the lives of visually impaired people throughout Ireland, so please help if you can. Denise needs to raise a total of €3,950. Denise herself has gone through temporary blindness due to detached retinas and due to the skill of the medical team was fortunate to retain sight in her right eye. Therefore by completing this trek she has the opportunity to raise money to fund further research.

Denise is daughter of John Greene, New Ross. John worked in the Civil Works Department in Ardnacrusha Power Station before being transferred to Great Island in 1970 from where he has now retired.

Donations can be made in the form of a cheque made out to Fighting Blindness, c/o Denise Greene, Mount Elliott, New Ross, Co. Wexford or by logging on to www.fightingblindness.ie.
