Review of Partnership in ESB Customer Supply

Following a review of Partnership in ESB and based on the recommendations of a Customer Supply Joint Working Group on Partnership, a number of partnership groups were formed in Customer Supply in 2004. These groups represent all areas of the business and have developed a range of initiatives in their individual areas. Partnership groups have also been involved in overall Customer Supply issues including our Recognition Strategy, Staff Surveys and Health and Safety Initiatives.

In November 2005 representatives from each group participated in a review of Partnership in Customer Supply. The review examined what is understood by Partnership and how effectively it has been operating in Customer Supply. Each group outlined the successes they have had and the challenges they have faced.

Noel Murphy and Sean Treacy from Group Partnership talked about partnership at Central level, how it operates, how it is structured and their role in supporting and facilitating partnership throughout ESB. Oliver Brogan, Manager, Customer Supply attended the review to hear the outputs and outline his own experience of and commitment to partnership in the business.

All present agreed that review was worthwhile and the output of the day included:

• An understanding of the successes achieved and challenges faced by each group



• A renewed commitment to partnership



• Agreement to drive it forward in Customer Supply

In conclusion, it was agreed that Partnership is about having a common interest and building trust and relationships on an ongoing basis. The group discussed this in relation to CS - what has worked and what needs to be changed to achieve this. The work begun at the review will continue now to ensure that we continue to build relationships and trust, and that there is genuine involvement in real issues through effective business partnership.
