Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland takes New York by storm

ESB was well represented when the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland performed to a capacity audience at Carnegie Hall, New York, on 2nd November, as part of their Atlantic Rhythms Concert Tour of New York and Boston, which also included a sell-out concert at the Boston Symphony Hall.

The Orchestra, which is made up of 120 Catholic and Protestant 12-24 year-olds from the Border counties, included Julie Morgan (daughter of Peter Morgan, ESB Retail), Liam Monagher (son of Pat Monagher, ESB Customer Supply) and Ruth Mullen (daughter of Pat Mullen, ESB Networks). All these young musicians are from Dundalk. The Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland has, since it was set up in 1995, won every major orchestral award possible in Ireland and Northern Ireland. They have performed at every major venue in Ireland to packed houses, under the guidance of the renowned Conductor, Gearoid Grant. They have undertaken tours in the past to England, the Czech Republic, Finland, and have been to California twice in 2002 and 2004. They have featured on national and international radio and television, and have recorded five CDs.

Having played Carnegie Hall, what could possibly be next for the Cross Border Orchestra?
