ESB welcomes agreement on pension pay and change

Following the rejection by the ESB unions of the Industrial Council Recommendation 2937 (issued 23rd Sept 2005) on the issues of pension, pay and change, the management and unions re-engaged in intensive direct negotiations. This reengagement is part of the agreed Industrial Relations Procedures which exists within ESB.

Talks between both sides took place on Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th December 2005.

The difficult negotiation process concluded in the early hours of Wednesday 14th December with an agreement reached between the parties on all of the issues involved. The agreement is based upon clarification of the Industrial Council Recommendation.

ESB management welcome this positive outcome to a difficult process and believe it presents a balanced solution which will benefit all parties involved in negotiating this collaborative deal.

ESB staff will now be balloted on acceptance of the agreement, and if successfully balloted on the agreement will take effect from March 2006.
