Your entry has helped the work of ElectricAid Christmas cards launched and lights switched on at Head Office The annual switch-on of the Christmas lights in ESB Head Office took place on Wednesday December 6th and this year the focus was very much on ElectricAid, as it coincided with the launch of EM's Christmas card competition. The competition, now in its 6th year, started out as a children's art competition where children were invited to submit entries which might be used for the corporate Christmas card. For 2006 it was decided to run with a competition open to both adults and children to submit photographic images, not just for the corporate cards, but for a selection of Christmas cards which would be sold with all proceeds going to ElectricAid, ESB's in-house charity. The response was excellent and the cards were sold out within a few days of the print run. Your help has ensured that the plight of a large number of people will be a bit easier-it doesn't have to take a lot of money to enable people to carry out a large amount of work in poorer parts of the world. Speaking at the event, Chief Executive Padraig McManus, who has been a driving force behind ElectricAid, said he would encourage more staff to sign up to the charity and that the amount you donate isn't what is important. Remember, 'a little goes a long way.' As well as the help your part in the event has |
