Government support for Know your Neighbour Weekend Government Chief Whip, Pat Carey TD joined ESB Customer Supply and Macra na Feirme to help launch 'Know your Neighbour Weekend 2008'. The launch which was hosted by Dublin Lord Mayor Cllr, Paddy Burke, took place at the Mansion House in Dublin. ESB Customer Supply has sponsored the annual initiative for the third year in succession. This year, Know you Neighbour Weekend takes place on the July 12th and 13th, people around Ireland are being encouraged to use the weekend to reacquaint themselves with their neighbours, whether living in cities or towns or in the rural community. Initiatives undertaken for 2008 include barbeques and social gatherings. The initiative run by Macra Na Feirme is aimed at tackling loneliness, depression and social isolation. Speaking at the launch, Brid Horan, Executive Director Customer Supply and Group Services congratulated all those involved for the initiative and said ESB was pleased once again to be positioned at the forefront of schemes aimed at tackling the isolation of modern living. |
