Your help is needed The hope foundation is holding its first national 24-hour fast on Friday, September 26th. The aim is to attract a national audience and to encourage people to get involved and raise money for HOPE, which works with the street children of Calcutta. The day of the fast ties in with National Volunteer DAY 'Give it a swirl' and so HOPE, will work with the National Volunteers Centres of Ireland to encourage people to become a volunteer by doing the 24-hour sponsored fast. People shouldn't think that because they are working they can't get involved – you can be at work and fast. We are looking for your help in doing this. Can you get any business, factories, secondary schools, production plants, banks, department stores, newspapers, hotels, restaurants, etc, to take part? HOPE will provide posters, sponsorship card and t-shirts (if they want them) to anyone taking part. There will be a 24-day radio advertisement running from Tuesday September 2nd until Friday September 26th, the day of the fast. The target is to get 2,500 people to do the fast and if each person raises €100, that could raise €250,000! If everyone helps, it can be done. That amount of money could make a great difference to the lives of to the children so please decide to help today! Earlier this year, Brigid O'Grady from ESB Networks in Arklow, completed a sponsored walk in India for the HOPE Foundation, which was featured in the March issue of EM. Please call Rosaleen Thomas on 086 806 9900, if you would like to take part in this fast. | ||||
