Aghada Power Station hosts meeting of the Chief Executive's Safety Committee

Aghada power Station recently hosted a meeting of the Chief Executive's Safety Committee. The committee has a policy of holding meetings in different ESB locations, which facilitates participation and involvement by local safety committees. The meeting was chaired by John Campion, Director, HR & Corporate Affairs, and also attended by Aidan O'Regan, Deputy Chief Executive / Head of Regulatory Affairs.

As part of the visit to the station, Nicholas Tarrant, station manager, presented on the current safety challenges facing Aghada at a time of major investment in the station. Barry Lynch, ESBI, presented on the safety management for the construction of the new Aghada CCGT.

The meeting included an update from the Deputy Chief Executive, a Safety Performance Report by Owen Wilson, an update on Occupational Health and Wellbeing programme by Chris McNally and a briefing on safety management in Customer Supply by Ronan Collier.

The theme of the meeting was process safety and included a review of the Baker Panel Report on the 2005 BP Texas City refinery explosion presented by Owen Wilson, Kevin Grace (PG) and Barry Lynch. The meeting concluded with a workshop on "Measuring Process Safety in ESB".
