Lynam goes wild! Switching on the radio a few Saturday mornings ago you might have done a double take if you were listening to Mooney Go Wild. That is unless you had been already chatting to Joan Lynam from the Partnership Group in Corporate Centre and heard her story about Tweetie, the little yellow tit that Joan and Frank had adopted! Both avid bird watchers, Joan and Frank had put a nesting box in their garden and had a camera on it where they watched as the mother hatched the eggs and saw the little babies develop. On one of these recent days they noticed the babies in distress and the parents not returning, so they kept a watchful eye on the scene but knew they couldn't interfere. However, as they sadly saw the distressed little birds begin to die one by one they took control and rescued 3 of the chicks. However, two died shortly after and they were left with Tweetie! Tweetie was fed with ground peanuts on a cotton bud and brought into the house and as a result had to accompany Joan and Frank to a number of appointments they had to keep. Tweetie quickly began to develop and become the pet of the household and travelled to Killarney on a course, Athlone to a wedding and Drogheda to a party - all the time lovingly fed and cared for. However, Tweetie is a wild bird so Joan and Frank know they must say goodbye shortly and hope she fares well in the world outside as they prepare her for 'life outside the nest'! |
