ElectricAid addresses CSR conference Along with over 40 other Irish companies, from north and south of the border, ESB was invited to share with participants the story of ElectricAid and ESB ElectricAid Ireland as an example of excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) community practice at a recent conference held in Dublin. Entitled "Exchanging for the Better," this event was organised jointly by Business in the Community Ireland (BITCI) and their sister organisation in Northern Ireland (BITCNI) and provided a "marketplace" for invited companies to exchange examples of innovative and practical CSR solutions from companies and organisations all over Ireland. A special keynote address was made by President Mary McAleese, patron of BITCI since its foundation five years ago, who said that " History has shown us repeatedly that where commerce acts unjustly or selfishly in the pursuit of profit, there is a potential for instability which benefits no one, but where business takes seriously its responsibility to enrich life itself, while still turning a profit, there is not just a feel-good factor to keep a PR company happy, but there is a visible, tangible step-up in the direction of a problem-solving society where everyone counts." |
