ESB backs Ireland team in new hockey event

This June will see both the Irish senior women's and men's hockey teams compete with some of the best hockey nations in the world in an exciting new international hockey tournament to be held in Dublin. The inaugural Setanta Sports Trophy will be held at the National Hockey Stadium, UCD Belfield, from June 13th to 17th. This is the first of a three year series that will see key hockey nations being invited to play Ireland in the run up to major hockey championships.

In what promises to be a very exciting tournament, the Irish women, who are sponsored by ESB, will take on Olympic Champions Germany, South Africa and Scotland, while the Irish men will face Canada, Egypt and Wales.

Setanta Sports, who are the title sponsor of the event, will be providing full coverage of all matches at the tournament. This tournament is your chance to see some of the world's top hockey athletes compete in the run up to the European Championships, which will be held in Manchester this August.

Tickets and full match schedule are available on www.hockey.ie . Tickets can be purchased at a special early bird discount of 25% if purchased online before 8th June.

Women's Hockey: Pegasus add ESB Club All Ireland Championship to their tally of trophies
Pegasus took on old rivals Hermes in the finals of the ESB All Ireland Club Championship and beat them three goals to one to add the championships to the ESB Irish Senior Cup, which they also won in April. Clare McMahon who had an outstanding match was voted player of the championship scored one of the goals and the other Pegasus goals came from Suzanne Beaney. Jenny Burke scored the Hermes goal.
