ESB Customer Supply launches Know Your Neighbour Weekend '08

ESB Customer Supply is sponsoring Know Your Neighbour (KYN) Weekend for the third consecutive year and it takes place on Saturday and Sunday, July 12th and 13th.

While we've seen increasing prosperity in Ireland in recent years, many people are now faced with the increased pressures that come hand-in-hand with modern living. Long hours at work and ever increasing commute times, combined with more family commitments mean that people are spending less and less time involved in community-based activities.

All too often we hear people saying that they don't even know their neighbours. Well, this KYN Initiative is the perfect opportunity to change all that! The initiative, which is being driven by Macra na Feirme, is a nationwide campaign that aims to encourage people to organise activities or events on the weekend of the 12th and 13th in a bid to get all of us to do more to get to know our neighbours.

Even if people aren't in a position to organise or attend an event, we could simply make a greater effort to interact with our neighbours. It could be as small as saying 'Hello' or inviting a neighbour in for a cup of tea.
