ESB success in all-island safety quiz

The 35th All-Island Occupational Safety and General Knowledge Quiz semi-finals and finals were held this year in the Radisson SAS Hotel, Limerick on Saturday, April 12th.

The event which is run jointly by the National Irish Safety Organisation (NISO) and the Northern Ireland Safety Group (NISG) was a great success with eight teams participating in the 'Novices' semi-final and eight teams in the 'Previous Entrants' semi-final.

Each team had successfully won through from their Regional Quiz round held earlier in the year. The standard of answering was very high across all teams and the scoring was close for the top three teams in both finals. ESB had a particularly good showing with the team of Martin Dillon, Niall O'Neill, Tony Pierce and Majella Henchion from Turlough Hill taking first place in the Novice category while the Great Island Team of John Joe Murphy, Danny Meaney Fergal Weatherhead and Pauline Weatherhead took third in the Previous Entrants category. Great Island won the All-Island Safety Quiz for the first time in 1995 and have been particularly consistent in this competition, winning it last year.
