Launch of free Home energy Surveys for public and for staff

Over the coming months, ESB Energy Services will be rolling out a Free Home Energy Survey Programme. The aim of this Programme is to assist and facilitate as many people as possible to carry out remedial work on their homes and in doing so to help them become more energy effi cient and sustainable and to avail of the SEI Home Energy Saving scheme (HES) Grants Package. This initiative is in support of ESB’s Strategy Framework for Sustainability.

The roll out to the public will commence the last week of June with mail and door drop campaigns to targeted areas where there is a concentration of pre-1980 houses in need of remedial work. The plan is to carry out approx 25,000 surveys on a phased basis across the country. Information evenings will also be held in these target areas to support and assist householders in making their homes more energy effi cient and obtaining the SEI grants.

While this scheme is also available to staff members in the targeted areas, there will be an additional opportunity for staff not covered in the target areas, with up to1,000 surveys available to staff during 2009 and the remainder of staff covered over the following three year duration of the programme The roll out of the Energy Services Programme to staff will commence in August and full details of how to apply will issue during June.

The Sustainability Advice Centre (Customer Supply) will work in conjunction with Energy Services in rolling out this initiative for staff. This staff initiative is one of the 10 crossbusiness Sustainability projects currently underway.
