Joe leads Offaly to glory ESB staff are noted for their extraordinary skills and many carry those skills into sport, - none more so than Joe Dooley. Joe is a HR Manager with Power Generation with responsibility for West Offaly Power and Lough Ree Generating Stations. In his ‘spare time’ Joe manages the Offaly Senior Hurlers. Joe is well qualified having played hurling with his local club Seir Kieran and with the Offaly senior inter-county team for 19 years from 1982 until 2000. Joe is the only Offaly player to have played in six senior all-Ireland finals winning three All-Ireland medals. On Sunday 3rd May in Semple Stadium, Joe added to his list of honours as he guided Offaly past Wexford and back into the top flight of inter county Hurling in the Division 2 final beating Wexford 1-13 to 0-13. But the challenge of Division 1 hurling next year was tempered with the thoughts of the upcoming championship - their Leinster SHC quarter-final clash at Wexford Park on May 30th facing none other than Wexford. |
