Minister launches ESB Customer Supply's Home Safety campaign

The minister for the Environment, Dick Roche TD, recently joined forces at No. 29 with ESB Customer Supply to promote their current Home Safety Campaign. Customer Supply's 'Home Safety' campaign is designed to heighten public awareness of the safe use of electricity in the home. The current 'Energy at Home' leaflet, which has been sent to 1.8 million customers is dedicated almost entirely towards giving advice on how to stay safe at home. The TV Safety Advert which is currently running was also designed to simply make people more aware of Safety in the Home. Another key feature of the campaign and the one which has gathered the most attention is the Safety Audit. www.esb.ie/safetycheck is an online selfassessment tool, which allows you to complete a questionnaire and in turn, a tailored safety report is generated.

Speaking at the launch, Minister Roche said that he was delighted to be associated with the campaign on Home Safety and he praised ESB Customer Supply for increasing awareness of Home Safety. He was particularly pleased to see the emphasis on fire prevention in the home, adding that working smoke alarms really do save lives. Chief Executive Padraig McManus said public safety is the number one issue for ESB. "Electricity can sometimes be taken for granted; however, we should never underestimate the potential dangers of such a powerful force."
