Power Generation receives CPD re-accreditation from Engineers Ireland
ESB power generation
was recently awarded reaccreditation
of its
Continuing Professional
Development (CPD) programme
for a further 3-year period by
Engineers Ireland.
The award was granted in
recognition of HR systems and
processes being successfully
applied to ensure the professional
development of engineers in
Power Generation. These include:
- Strong ethos of Learning &
Development as demonstrated by
- Power Generation's L&D policy
- Implementation of corporate
CPD policy
- Financial and time investment
in training in Power
Generation
- Implementation of the
Performance Management
System (PMS) to achieve business
goals and, in parallel, to support
the development of people
Structured development of
graduate engineers involving
- A range of planned
development assignments
- Provision of structured offthe-
job training
- Implementation of a
mentoring scheme
The award event took place in the
Head Office Conference Centre
and saw Pat O'Doherty, Executive
Director, Power Generation,
receive the CPD accreditation
parchment from Anne Butler,
President, Engineers Ireland. Pat,
in his address, spoke about the
relevance of CPD in the context of
the business challenges facing
Power Generation.
He went on to say that this
award was continued
acknowledgement by a
professional organisation of the
application of best practice HR
systems and practices in Power
Generation in providing
engineering excellence.
