ESB Joint Equality Council

Applications are invited from ESB staff with disabilities who are interested in serving as Disability Representative on the ESB Joint Equality Council (JEC). The term of appointment will be for two years.

The Council is an advisory body made up of management and union representatives, under an external Chairperson, Professor Eileen Drew of Trinity College. It is a valuable partnership forum for shaping equality and diversity strategies, policies and delivery in ESB. The JEC meets five or six times a year, with two of these meetings taking place at ESB locations outside Dublin.

Although the Council doesn't deal with industrial relations issues, it has a significant impact on matters of importance to ESB staff. These include: compliance with equality legislation, promoting equality and diversity awareness, work-life balance, health and wellbeing, cultural diversity and the promotion of a workplace free from bullying and harassment.

If you are interested in applying please forward your name, staff number and location in writing to the address below, along with a one-page summary outlining your knowledge of disability issues and stating why you feel you would qualify for this representative role. Please forward your application to: Ms. Joyce Farrell, Manager, Equality and Diversity, ESB, 27 Lr. Fitzwilliam St., Dublin 2. The closing date for receipt of applications is Friday, 28th March 2008.
