ElectricAid's AGM - another year of strong growth
There was an
excellent attendance
at ElectricAid's 2007
AGM which was held
on Tuesday, April
15th in the H.O. Conference
Centre. Those present heard an
account of another very
successful year.
Chairman, Peter Kelly,
Treasurer, Pearse Crilly and
Administrator, James Foley
reviewed a year of sustained
growth for ESB staff's social
justice and developing-world
fund. The highlights covered
included:
- Revenue of €1.9 million in
2007. Even when excluding
'once-off ' items, growth was
more than 30% - a huge
testament to the real
generosity of the entire ESB
community.
- ElectricAid membership is
now at 2,700 and still rising.
- The commencement of the
ESB/ElectricAid Teshie
school flagship project in
Ghana.
- A huge total of 124 separate
life-saving and life-changing
projects in 39 different
countries. 90 of these
projects were in Africa, 10 in
Ireland, 11 in Asia, eight in
Latin America and five in
Europe.
- The beginning of a new
strategic direction for
ElectricAid – managing
some of our growth into a
smaller number of larger
projects.
- Needs and demands still
growing strongly – as ever,
our most pressing need is for
more new members!
