Success at the European Championships for ESB Swimming Club

Congratulations to the Irish Swim Team who returned home following a successful European Championship in Eindhoven and congratulations in particular to our own Aisling Cooney of ESB Swimming Club. Aisling swam in five events and reached the semi-finals in both the 50 and 200 metre back crawl. Aisling's final event in Eindhoven was the 50 metre back crawl and she had the distinction of breaking the Irish senior record in the heats and taking a further half second off her new record in the semi, where she finished twelfth overall.

She had previously broken her Irish record in the 100 back crawl while finishing just outside the semi-final placings in seventeenth position and she delivered a personal best time when finishing 14th overall in the 200 back crawl. Aisling hopes to achieve Olympic qualifying times at the Irish National Championship in the first weekend in May and we wish her and all the swimmers and coaches in ESB Swimming Club the very best of luck.
