Midland Stations’ Staff Benevolent Fund

At the agm of the Midland Stations Staff Benevolent Fund, held on Wednesday, March 19th the following officers were elected:

• Chairman – Seamus Finn
• Vice Chair – Carmel Hosey
• Secretary – Liam Cullinan
• Asst. Secretary – Jimmy Corrigan
• Treasurer – Tom Sugrue
• Asst. Treasurer – Ultan McCabe.

Due to the huge increase in claims and also the dwindling bank balance, the motions on changes in benefits listed were passed and these should help keep the fund afloat for the next number of years.

In the coming year the committee will be reviewing other means of keeping the fund sustainable in the future and any Midland Stations’ Staff Benevolent Fund member of the fund who wishes to pass on any ideas or suggestions can contact any of the committee members or any of the local committees.

Motions passed

• Subscription to the fund to be increased to €2.50 per week and €10.85 per month as and from April 1st, 2008.
• Dental Benefits - the amount payable shall be equal to that paid by ESB or other source to a maximum of € 500 per claim.
• Mortality Benefit € 500 – includes death of Member, Spouse, Child up to age of 18 years.
• Orthodontic Benefit – 30% of total cost subject to a maximum of €500.
• Retirement Benefit to cease to exist.
