ESBI Cork moves premises to meet expansion

The official opening of the new ESB International office in Cork located at 6 Eastgate Avenue in Little Island took place in March. Attending the opening were the staff of the office, guests from ESBI in Stephen Court, ESBI staff from Aghada power station and key clients, including representatives from ESB Networks and ESB Power Generation.

Since the opening of the ESBI Cork office in 2001 to serve utility clients in the south of the country, the ESBI team there has steadily grown to the extent that a larger premises was required to accommodate them all.

"We needed an office that would comfortably accommodate the existing team and also allow for continued expansion of our services in the coming years," said Mark Lyons, ESB Networks Key Accounts Manager and Manager of the ESBI Cork office. "The move facilitates the organic growth of our team and business, underscores ESBI's commitment to delivering services to clients more locally, which our clients want, and opens up work in new areas such as renewables and power plant."

The new office is located in the same Eastgate business park on Little Island as the original ESBI Cork office. Once the lease on the new office was secured, work was carried out by teams from across ESB and ESBI to ensure a smooth transition from the old location to the new one. At present, the new office has 34 ESBI staff members, but it can comfortably accommodate 50, which allows for future growth.

To mark the opening, presentations were given by some of the key teams located in Cork on a range of topics. Tim Condon presented on Overhead Line Design & Engineering, Bernie Mullins spoke on Substation Design and Independent Power Producer connections, John Higgins outlined the services of ESBI Asset Management and specifically the work of the Conflicts & Arbitrations team, Marianne Keane presented on the work of the Building Consultancy Group, Oistin McGrath outlined the work of the Power Plant team in Aghada, and Brendan Hallissey from High Voltage Substations presented on Work-Life Balance in the office.

Ollie Brogan, Manager ESBI Engineering and Facility Management (ESBIe-fm), performed the official opening and he complimented the Cork teams on their outstanding work and on the role they are playing in facilitating ESBI's growth in the region.

ESBI in Cork looks forward with confidence to delivering an excellent locally focussed service to its ESB clients as it always has, and to expanding the range of services on offer from the new office.
