Building the team in Bahrain to support Electricity & Water Authority

As part of a knowledge transfer programme, a number of Dublinbased ESBI Project Engineers from the International Consultancy team travelled to Bahrain to support key projects being undertaken for the Electricity & Water Authority of Bahrain. "This is the first time a group of Head Office Project Engineers working on Kingdom of Bahrain, Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) transmission projects have participated in such a programme. It's all part of our drive to enhance client relations and indeed the consultancy services we provide," said Brian Cronly, Manager, International Consultancy, Transmission and Distribution, ESBI Engineering and Facility Management (ESBIe-fm).

He told EM, "EWA is one of ESBIe-fm's top clients. With a total value of current contracts around the €20 million mark, the programme not only shows our commitment to EWA but also makes significant progress in enhancing our local engineering expertise."

With the addition of the six new staff from the Dublinbased International Consultancy team, there are now 30 people in the Bahrain office working on engineering projects.

Due to the intense nature and variety of the work, site based staff at the Bahrain office can find it a challenge to get to know their colleagues, so a team-building event was held in March.

Local manager Tom Ralph said, "The team-building event was a great way for all staff to mix. We're delighted to have colleagues from Ireland, Bahrain, India, Philippines, UK, Croatia, Slovakia and South Africa here in the local office. The blend of cultures and traditions is fantastic. Team building ensures we work very productively.

"The day of the team building event, our staff also assumed a very important ambassadorial role at the St Patrick's Day Ball in the Gulf Hotel attended by 700 people. In fact ESBI staff do us proud here on a daily basis. Their professionalism builds on our long association with Bahrain. This new commitment will help us maintain a strategic position in the Middle East, a region that is currently still undergoing massive investment in power infrastructure."

Ollie Brogan, Manager, ESBI Engineering & Facility Management, commented, "This represents a significant enhancement of our continued business relationship with EWA and is in line with our international strategy. It builds on the strong reputation established by many ESBI managers working in Bahrain over the last 30 years."
