EM moving forward

EM is an integral part of ESB life, and is a very popular and effective forum for informing and entertaining staff.

Part of the success of EM has been that we keep the newspaper under continuous review and adapt in line with new technologies and advances. As part of our most recent review we have identified that new media and the intranet have a significant and increasing role to play in communications in ESB.

In recognition of these changes it has been decided to expand the communications brief of EM utilising the latest communication tools. An increasing number of ESB staff and their families have daily access to the internet and emails, with many staff logging in to ESB systems from work, with this in mind the printed copy of EM is now moving to a bi-monthly publication schedule. In order to further improve the role of EM greater use of the Intranet and email alerts will supplement the printed newspaper. This move is a positive step in increasing awareness of issues across company and within business units.

The usual features in EM that we all like to read will still be available in the bi-monthly newspaper, which will provide more in-depth coverage and analysis of the issues facing ESB as we meet new challenges facing the company.
