A week in the life - Vincent Doyle
Occupation:
Security Officer, Head Office
What is your typical week?
I work in the Head Office
reception area and security duty
on the rear entrance gate to HO.
I normally commence duty at
7.30am and finish around 17.45pm,
Monday to Friday. I really enjoy
meeting people and my job gives
me this opportunity. A lot of
interesting visitors pass through
the doors of ESB Headquarters and
I have met some famous faces
from time to time. I have also
made some great friends and
acquaintances among the regulars
who pass through each day.
If you could change something
in your week what would it be?
I am happy with my career at
present, however if I had to pick
something else it would be to
travel around Europe with my
beloved – maybe I could do the
travel column for EM – first hand
experiences and all that!
How do you chill out?
We have recently moved into a
new house on the borders of
Wicklow and Carlow – God’s own
country. I love spending time in
the garden and while it’s hard
work, it’s very enjoyable and
therapeutic. I also have plenty of
DIY to do so if you see a familiar
face in Woodies or B&Q it’s yer
man from the Back Gate!
If you had the opportunity to
pursue another career, what
would you like to do?
I love music and would like to be in
a band playing the guitar, but
‘herself ’ would think different! I’d
probably never have made a Rory
Gallagher but I’d like to give it a try!
What is your biggest personal
ambition?
My personal ambition would be to
help out senior citizens when I
retire. It’s something I have felt I’d
like to do for a long time and we’ll
all need it at some stage, so any bit
I can do to help would give me
satisfaction.
