Streamlined management reporting in ET&R

From May 2006, management reporting in Customer Supply Energy Trading & Regulation (ET&R) will have a different look and feel. As part of the Wholesale Capabilities Development Programme, a Data Management and Management Reporting Project (Data Project) has revised and streamlined the monthly business performance and risk reporting process.

The Data Project was completed in two phases. Phase 1, in quarter 4 2005, delivered a comprehensive analysis of the data issues for the Customer Supply Wholesale business, and a Data Strategy for this part of Customer Supply. This phase was managed by Edel O'Gara.

Phase II commenced in January 2006, to implement the key recommendations arising from Phase I. Killian Morgan of Customer Supply was the Business Expert, and Liz O'Connor, of IT Consulting, was the Project Manager. Phillip Mulligan of the CS IT Team provided support and advice. The supporting team consisted of Jane Salmon (Accenture), Alice Thompson (IT Consulting) and Siobhan O'Sullivan (IT Consulting).

With excellent input and assistance from the various business teams, the targeted objectives were achieved within the tight timeline. The solution was delivered in April 2006. The Project has revised and streamlined the monthly cycle of data analysis and reporting within ET&R. It has implemented Sharepoint for the management and publication of this data. It has clarified the production of information, and provides the business teams with definitive versions of information when they need it.

Cathal Marley, the Customer Supply Financial Controller and sponsor for this project, commented: "This initiative is designed to provide clarity and traceability to the information reported to Management. It should deliver significant benefits over the coming months."
